WWTP Updates August 2010

A large percentage of the backfill has been completed on the Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR ) Basin.  New process pipes have already or are being laid as backfill takes place.  New electrical conduit for pumps, mixers, controls, and telemetry will soon follow.  The BNR is scheduled to be in operation by mid September and will serve as the temporary aeration basin for treatment of the wastewater.  Work will then begin on the current aeration basin with completion estimated within three months.

WWTP Drying Biosolids

August 12, 2010

Biosolids are going into the Belt Filter Press at 1.5% and coming off around 14%.  They are then moved out to the solids drying pad where they are turned and mixed several times a day.  After a few weeks the solids are dried down to 65% with a moisture reduction of 98.5% to 35%.  So far the amount of biosolids processed would have been 65 loads of liquid hauled in comparison to 6 loads of dried solids.  The reduction of loads saves fuel, man hours, wear on equipment and compaction to fields.
