Education

The first settlers of Lindsborg placed a high value on education. That value is exemplified by the founding of Bethany College in 1880 and consolidation of the one room schoolhouses into the Smoky Valley School District.

Smoky Valley School District
The Smoky Valley School District serves the communities of Lindsborg, Marquette, Roxbury, Smolan and Falun, including the outlying areas totaling 395 square miles. The education a student receives is outstanding. The Smoky Valley School District was selected as one of the "Best 100 Communities for Music Education in America" Smoky Valley High School students all receive a laptop as part of the "One-to-One" laptop initiative in a totally wireless environment. In the Fall of 2002, a virtual charter school provided education “virtually” or in a classroom setting.
