City reminds graduates that “there’s no place like home”

For the fourth year in a row, Smoky Valley High School graduates will receive a gift from the City of Lindsborg, honoring their success. A personalized dala horse key chain, bearing the graduate’s first name on one side and their graduation year on the other, is hand painted by an artist at the Hemslojd and presented to graduates at their farewell breakfast.

Former City Administrator Kristi Northcutt began the tradition and with the keychain, included a handwritten note, personalized to each graduate. Before her departure, Northcutt prepared all the notes for this year’s class, to ensure that the tradition would be honored.

In presenting the gifts, City leaders share with graduates that they should always consider Lindsborg as their home – whether they stay after graduation to work or further their education or move away from the city and choose to come back for a day or a lifetime. Wherever their plans take them, they’ll always have a piece of Lindsborg with them for their journey.

The City also presents a departing letter and keepsake to Bethany College graduates and participates in their closing activities.

Best wishes to all our 2025 graduates!
