Midsummer's Festival

A national Swedish holiday celebrated with Swedish food, music, dancing, art, games and the raising of the Midsommarstång (Midsummer Pole). This festival, held to celebrate the beginning of summer, is one of the most popular of all Swedish celebrations, and Lindsborg is proud to host this fun-filled family oriented Swedish-American festival in our beautiful south park known as Riverside Park. 


9:00 – Announcements and Mayor’s Welcome
9:10 – Blowing of the birch horn
9:15 – Lindsborg Folkdanslag
10am – Marquette Cloggers
10:30am – Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers
11:00 – Audience dancing led by Charlotte Anderson and/or Tami Dahlsten
11:30 – Dave Pickering with the One Man Band sets up to play
11:45 – Kubb players are introduced
12:00 – Dave Pickering with the One Man Band plays
1:00 – Sprout House kiddos perform
1:30 – Broadway RFD
2:00 – Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers
3:00 – close down and move to downtown
**Processional will begin at 3 on the trail and end downtown

There will also be wood carving, children story time (12:00), Fika, basket weaving, rope making and blacksmith at the park. Blomkrans can be made for a small fee, face painting, dunk tank, bouncy house, obstacle course, a 3x3 Basketball tournament will be downtown in the afternoon. 


1pm –   Swedish genealogy throughout the afternoon at Vision Tek
3-5pm - Food demonstrations in the afternoon at Senior Center: Kringler, Swedish pancakes and Swedish coffee downtown
3pm – Craft demos, Learn Swedish, Entertainment inside a few shops
3pm – 5 live music at some of the shops downtown. Sam Unruh – soloist/country singer will be performing
3:30pm - Learn how and play chess at the Anatoly Karpov International School of Chess
5:00/6:30pm – close down and FIKA

Fika is a Swedish coffee break.  Fika isn’t just a coffee break, it’s a lifestyle.  It’s slowing down, taking a moment to sit and contemplate on your own or to gather with friends.


7am – Fun Run/Walk
8am – Kubb registration; Tournament starts at 9am
9:30am to 3pm – Craft demonstrations
9:30am to 11:30am – Learn Swedish in the country school house
6:00pm – Kubb Championship
6-7:00pm – Dave Pickering – The One Man Band
7:00pm – Announcements/ Recognitions
7:15pm – National Anthems (USA & Sweden), Kansas State song followed by raising of Midsummer’s pole
7:30pm – Processional and Dancing
9:00pm –       Free swim
