A traditional Swedish custom, Julotta is a beautiful early Christmas morning church service. Churches are lit with candles and awash with music. Julotta in Swedish means Christmas morn, and otta is the time which is slightly before dawn. At 5:30 a.m., a brass quartet begins the call to service from the steeple of the Bethany Lutheran Church. The Evangelical Covenant Church of Lindsborg also celebrates with this early morning service, and in both churches, Julotta begins at 6:00 a.m.
